This article introduced a medical case of national TCM master LIU Jiaxiang in the treatment of advanced breast cancer after the failure of modern medical multi-line therapies. Master LIU established the methods of enforcing the spleen, nourishing the kidney, soothing the liver, resolving phlegm and softening hardness, clearing heat and toxins, dissipating stasis and dissolving knots, and expelling wind and dredging meridians, keeping the patient with refractory breast cancer survive with tumors and improving her quality of life. This medical case embodies the method of “strengthening vital qi to treat cancer“ , which is “patient-centered with emphasis on both patient and tumor“ . The case is worthy of reference in the clinical practice of TCM.
