Treatment of Adult-onset Still's Disease by Li Kanyin: A Case Report
Summary of case history, A 21-year-old male patient sought medical attention on August 12, 2021 due to "intermittent fever with joint pain for more than 10 years". For 10 years, the patient had no obvious cause of fever accompanied by swelling and pain in the right knee joint. During this period, they went to multiple hospitals for treatment and improved after taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and hormones. Six years ago, the patient experienced fever and pain in the right knee joint again. He was diagnosed with "adult Steele's disease" at Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and improved after receiving symptomatic treatment such as methylprednisolone tablets for anti-inflammatory effects. A year ago, the patient relapsed again and came to our hospital for further diagnosis and treatment. Symptoms and signs: The patient had intermittent fever, which starts in the afternoon and worsens at night. In the morning, the fever subsides, accompanied by knee joint pain, poor appetite, dry mouth and thirst, good mental health, good sleep at night, good urination, and 2-3 bowel movements per day. The tongue is red with little saliva, the fur is yellow and greasy, and the veins are thin and numerous.,TCM diagnosis, Internal injury and fever (Yin deficiency and internal heat syndrome).,Western medicine diagnosis, Still's disease.,Therapeutic methods, Traditional Chinese medicine treatment is based on clearing heat, removing steam, nourishing yin and nourishing blood, and is treated with modified Qinqi Biejia decoction.,Clinical outcomes, The patient's symptoms of fever and knee joint pain have basically disappeared.
