Professor XU Guoqian is the patriarch of the literature on cold damage and traditional Chinese medicine in Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has extensive knowledge and is experienced in teaching and medicine. He is good at using the methods of literature research to interpret the doubts in ,Treatise on Febrile Diseases,. Prof. XU has more than 40 years of clinical experience. He treated tympanites according to "when you have seen the disease in the liver, you should realize that it will transmit from the liver to the spleen and therefore you should take measures in advance to strengthen the spleen." He treated cancer by using "regulating yin and yang, reducing phlegm and qi". He treated wind stroke and edema by using the theory of "menstruation stops first and then water disease occurs", with Mahuang Xixin Fuzi Decoction for edema and Xiaoqinglong Decoction in the treatment of convulsion. It embodies the principles of syndorme differentiation, and Prof. Xu is good at using the clinical diagnosis and treatment features of the classic Chinese medical formulas.
