Ye Jinghua believed that diabetic nephropathy originated from diabetic diabetes. The basic pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy was deficiency of spleen-qi. When it developed to diabetic nephropathy stage, there appeared “spleen damage kidney“ . Therefore, diabetic nephropathy was the syndrome of “spleen and kidney disease“ . In addition, diabetic nephropathy is mostly caused by pathogenic factors, of which “static blood“ runs through the whole course of the disease, while “wind pathogen“ is another major pathogenic factor besides static blood, dampness, phlegm and turbid toxin, and “wind and blood stasis pathogenic“ is another pathogenic feature of diabetic nephropathy. In clinic, Doctor Ye advocated “invigorating the spleen, benefiting the kidney, dispelling wind and activating blood circulation“ as the basic treatment principle. With the addition or subtraction of drugs according to syndrome, the clinical treatment of diabetic nephropathy proteinuria and edema can often obtain better curative effect.
