Professor ZHENG Shaozhou's experience in the treatment of multiple sclerosis was summarized. Professor ZHENG Shaozhou believes that multiple sclerosis is disease of root deficiency and branch excess. It is mainly responsible for the deficiency of spleen and kidney. It is mainly responsible for the symptoms of dampness, phlegm, heat, blood stasis, wind, etc. Therefore, the general outline of the treatment is to strengthen the function of strengthening body resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors(strengthening body resistance, strengthening body constitution, eliminating pathogenic factors and toxic materials)and invigorating spleen and kidney. The treatment principle of dispelling evil and detoxifying, using the method of tonifying kidney and detoxifying, according to different physiques of patients and different periods of the disease, each of them has the effect of strengthening and dispelling evil(tonifying kidney and detoxifying). It can obviously improve symptoms, accelerate patients' recovery, prevent recurrence and improve patients' quality of life.
