Summary of case history,　The patient is a 84-year-old man, who complained of "intermittent spasm of right-anterior part muscle of cervix for more than two years", with fatigue, stiffness and tightness in neck and shoulder, feeling of gas migration and abdominal distension, headache sometimes, normal appetite, sticky stool and difficult to defecate, sticky greasy and sweet taste in the mouth, frequent micturition, especially during the night, astringent at the base of the tongue, dark purple lip, dark red tongue, cracks in the middle of the tongue, white fur in the middle of the tongue with slightly dry and greasy, and thready and slippery pulse. He has a history of hypertension for more than 30 years and a history of 20 years after coronary artery bypass grafting.,TCM diagnosis,　Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis of tendon spasm ( syndrome of blood deficiency and stirring wind movement),Western medicine diagnosis,　Right sternocleidomastoid spasm origin unknown,Therapeutic methods,　Traditional Chinese medicine drug granules was prescribed for nourishing blood and stopping spasm, strengthening spleen function and eliminating phlegm, combining with acupuncture. Acupuncture points selected included Zhongwan, Tianshu, Guanyuan, Yinlingquan, Zusanli, Hegu, Taichong, Yanglingquan and Baihui, which had the effect of strengthening spleen and nourishing blood. Modification according to symptoms were given when the patient had the subsequent visit.,Clinical outcomes,　The frequency of muscle spasm was significantly reduced, and there was no recurrence in the follow-up for nearly two years. The patients was very satisfied with the improvement of quality of life.
