Application of wind medicinals in the treatment of ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic nonspecific inflammatory bowel disease characterized by continuous and diffuse inflammatory changes in the colorectal mucosa. Its clinical symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody purulent stools, tenesmus and so on. It can be classified into the categories of "intestinal diarrhea", "dysenteric diarrhea" and "rest dysentery" in traditional Chinese medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine, the basic pathogenesis of the disease is deficiency of healthy Qi, retention of dampness and toxin and stagnation of Qi and blood. The disease is located in the large intestine and is closely related to the liver, spleen and kidney. Wind medicinals are pungent in flavor, thin and light in texture, and has the nature of rising and floating. According to the property and function of wind medicinals, combined with the physiological and pathological characteristics of the spleen and stomach, this paper discusses the mechanism and application of wind medicinals in the treatment of ulcerative colitis from the aspects of lifting spleen Yang, dispelling wind and eliminating dampness, promoting stagnation, soothing the liver and regulating Qi, promoting blood circulation and removing stasis, and guiding the meridian. Combined with a clinical case, this paper introduces the application of wind medicinals in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
