Minor Chaihu Decoction for allergic rhinitis in children based on "Qi Circumfluence" theory
Children allergic rhinitis, often accompanied by nasal congestion, running noses, sneezing, mucosal edema, adenoid hypertrophy, nose backflow postnasal drip syndrome followed by allergic rhinitis and asthma syndrome and so on, seriously affects life quality. Huang Yuanyu, from the Qing Dynasty, first mentioned the "Qi Circumfluence" in ,Si Sheng Xin Yuan, and created a stable physiological framework in which the spleen qi serves as the pivot core, the liver and heart go upwards on the left, and the lung and kidney go downward on the right. Once spleen Qi is stagnated or congested either by exogenous pathogenic factors or internal injuries, disease may arise. Our research team hold that allergic rhinitis in children and a series of symptoms are closely associated with the spleen which fails to transport. Accordingly, in treatment, importance should be attached to guiding it back to the original circumfluence, with good effects.
