Application of "metal-water generating" theory in malignant pleural effusion of lung cancer
The lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in clinical practice. The prognosis of the lung cancer patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is often poor. "Metal-water generation" is also known as "Mutual Generation between the Lung and Kidney" and "Lung and Kidney Homogeny". The lung and kidney are closely related as they are both involved in breathing, coordination of fluid distribution and metabolism and they are connected by meridians. Deficiency of the lung and kidney is an important pathogenic factor of MPE in the lung cancer. Clinical treatment often aggravates the deficiency of the lung and kidney. The treatment of lung cancer MPE emphasizes the treatment of both the lung and kidney. The theory of metal-water generating can guide the prescription and medication of lung cancer MPE, which is expounded in combination with the typical clinical records.
