LIU Ruxiu's Experience on Treating Sick Sinus Syndrome in The Elderly by Activating Yang and Preserving Yin
Sick sinus syndrome(SSS) is a syndrome in which the pacemaker and conduction function of sinoatrial node are impaired and presents a series of arrhythmia and clinical symptoms.In the treatment of SSS, the only recognized and long-term effective treatment is pacemaker implantation, often accompanied by postoperative complications, which limits its application.With the continuous development of the traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine has shown the advantages of economic benefits and reliable long-term effect in the SSS therapy.Professor LIU Ruxiu has been engaged in the research on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases for decades.She has achieved remarkable results in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, especially SSS.By inheriting the academic experience of LIU Zhiming, a master of traditional Chinese medicine, LIU Ruxiu proposed that Qi and essence of senile patients with SSS should be treated with both Yang and Yin to achieve the balance of body.
