Clinical Experience of GUO Weiqin in Treatment of Arrhythmia Using Holism of Body And Spirit
The holism of body and spirit is a significant ideology of traditional Chinese medicine. The body means the substance that constitutes the human body, and the spirit refers to a series of physiological activities including mind, consciousness, thought, emotion, etc. The holism of body and spirit emphasizes the unity of body and spirit. They complement each other in physiological status, and influence each other in disease state. Qi plays as a medium in the unity of body and spirit, coordinating the relationship by means of Qi movement and Qi transformation. Body, spirit and Qi should all be taken into account when treating dis-ease. Professor GUO Weiqin believes that heart Qi deficiency is the root cause of arrhythmia, blood stasis blocking heart channel is the basic pathological changes, and failure of keeping spirit due to Ying-Yin deficiency is the pathogenesis. In view of the etiology and pathogenesis of arrhythmia, from the comprehensive treatment of body, spirit and Qi, professor GUO Weiqin put forward the basic treatment principles of boosting Qi, invigorating blood and calming spirit, and formulated the basic herbal medication, using the holism of body and spirit. And in the treatment of arrhythmia, professor GUO Weiqin has achieved good curative effect by flexibly adjusting medication in the treatment process.
