Treatment of Sleep Disorder in Children with Autism with the Method of Tonifying Bile Qi and Calming the Mind by An Xiaoxian: A Case Report
Summary of case history, The patient Tian, male, 8 years old, sought medical attention on June 28, 2022 due to "difficulty falling asleep intermittently and night terrors for 8 years". The child has difficulty falling asleep since childhood, is prone to crying and waking up at night, cannot communicate and play with peers, and often speaks to himself. At the age of 3, he was diagnosed with "autism" at a psychiatric hospital. Symptoms and signs: The child has difficulty falling asleep, has poor sleep, wakes up at night with crying and shouting. Can only engage in simple verbal communication with parents, timid, often feeling afraid, picky eaters, prone to sweating, and not defecating. The tongue is light red, with thin and white fur, and deep and thin veins.,TCM diagnosis, Night terrors(heart and gallbladder qi deficiency syndrome).,Western medicine diagnoses, Sleep disorders; Childhood autism.,Therapeutic methods, Traditional Chinese medicine treatment focuses on tonifying the bile and qi, calming the heart and calming the mind, and is treated with modified Shengmai San and Dingzhi Xiaowan.,Clinical outcomes, The child's sleep was stable and there were no night terrors.
