A Case of Lung Cancer Treated by Professor XIA Yuqing by Supplementing Qi and Nourishing Yin
Summary of case history, Wang, female, 55 years old, went to the hospital because of "The lung shadow was found for more than one year and thoracic metastatic tumor for half a year after operation". On physical examination in April 2018, abnormal density foci in the upper lobe of the right lung were found on chest CT, and the patient was presented to Chaoyang Hospital for anti-infection treatment. In April 2019, the patient developed ant sensation in the shoulder and back, and in May 2019, an MRI of the thoracic vertebra showed a space-occupying lesion at vertebra T3, excluding metastatic tumors. PET-CT scan performed in the Third Hospital of Peking University on May 30, 2019 showed carcinoma in situ in the right lung, secondary multiple bone metastases, pathological fracture of T3 vertebral body, and spinal canal stenosis. On June 11, 2019, a CT-guided puncture biopsy of a lesion in the right upper lung was performed in the Chest Hospital of Capital Medical University. The pathology revealed a lung adenocarcinoma, and the gene test sent for specimen showed EGFR L858R mutation. Brain MRI: multiple intracranial metastases. Due to thoracic vertebra metastasis and paraplegia risk, on June 19, 2019, Capital Medical University Chest Hospital performed posterior resection of thoracic vertebra 3 accessories and part of the vertebral body tumor, bone cement filling, bone graft fusion, and internal fixation under general anesthesia. Postoperative pathology showed metastatic adenocarcinoma supporting metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma. Target therapy with oseltamivir is administered.,TCM Diagnosis, feiji (deficiency of both qi and yin),Western medicine diagnosis, right upper lung adenocarcinoma multiple bone metastases multiple brain metastases,Therapeutic methods, The treatment of Shengmai Powder combined with Liujunzi Decoction by oral administration is mainly based on benefiting qi and nourishing yin, regulating and tonifying spleen and lung, and assisted by clearing heat, activating blood and detoxicating. External treatment with electric acupuncture combined with filiform needling advocates the matching of shu and mu with acupoints to strengthen healthy qi, supplement deficiency, and balance yin and yang of zang-fu organs.,Clinical outcomes, This patient had advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with brain metastasis and sensitive mutation of EGFR. Targeted western medicine therapy combined with acupuncture and medication in traditional Chinese medicine has been used for nearly three years, effectively prolonging the progression-free survival (PFS) of this patient. Currently, it is in PFS, with a stable condition and high quality of life.
