A Case of Recurrent Fever in a Peritoneal Dialysis Patient Treated by Classical Prescription Combined with Western Medicine
Summary of case history, Patient, female, 49 years old. She was admitted to our department on August 23, 2019 with "peritonitis" due to "maintenance of peritoneal dialysis for more than six months, recurrent abdominal pain for 5 days and fever for 3 days". The patient had a history of chronic kidney disease in stage 5 and was treated with regular peritoneal dialysis. After admission, she was treated with western medicine such as anti-infection and removal of the peritoneal dialysis tube, but the fever still recurred. With the help of Six-meridian Syndrome Differentiation and staged treatment of TCM to capture the pathogenic mechanism of Yang evidence to Yin evidence, the patient was discharged from the hospital without further fever.,TCM diagnosis, fever, TCM medical evidence: Tai Yang-Shao Yang-Yang Ming-Tai Yin combination.,Western medicine diagnosis, chronic kidney disease stage 5; peritoneal dialysis; peritonitis; type 2 diabetic nephropathy; type 2 diabetes mellitus with multiple complications; renal anemia; hypertension grade 2, very high risk group.,Therapeutic methods, Western medicine mainly treated with maintenance dialysis, anti-infection and integration of chronic renal failure, while Chinese medicine treated the disease in stages according to the pathogenesis from Yang evidence to Yin evidence.,Clinical outcomes, The patient was discharged from the hospital with no further fever, improved sleep, and formed stools.
