Summary of case history, This case started 3 years ago with mucopurulent bloody stools, 7-8 times a day, with intermittent dull pain in the lower abdomen, defecation after pain, pain relieved after defecation, no chest tightness, palpitation, cough, asthma, abdominal distension, acid reflux and other discomforts. After seeking medical treatment from various places and taking traditional Chinese medicine or simply using oral or suppository medication such as mezaraqin, the number of mucus, pus and blood stools could be reduced, but the condition was prolonged and aggravated repeatedly, so she was admitted to the outpatient clinic of the Department of Medicine at the hospital for inpatient treatment.,TCM diagnosis, Resting dysentery (syndrome of dampheat in the intestines),Western medicine diagnosis, Ulcerative colitis (Chronic relapsing type, rectum, active,severe),Therapeutic methods, Western medicine basic treatment: oral administration of mesalazine (5-ASA) tablets combined with mesalazine suppositories (Salford) for the first 3 weeks. The second 2 weeks were intermittent use of mesalazine.In Chinese medicine, the Chinese herbal formula was given as "Aromatic and Dampness-transforming Drink" orally with "Xianhe Calamus Decoction" enema.,Clinical outcomes, The patient had formed bowel movements, 1-2 times a day, yellowish and soft, with no active lesions in the intestinal mucosa on endoscopy.
