Treatment of Vocal Cord Polyps with the Method of Resolving Phlegm and Resolving Nodules: A Case Report
Summary of case history, Patient Zeng, female, 35 years old, visited the hospital on October 31, 2017 due to "hoarseness for 2 months". The patient developed hoarseness and difficulty in vocalization due to swimming two months ago, and was diagnosed with "bilateral vocal cord polyps". After symptomatic treatment with medication, there was no significant improvement, so they went to our outpatient clinic for treatment. Symptoms and signs: The patient has clear mind, mental fatigue, obvious hoarseness, laborious speech, low answering voice, difficulty with phlegm, no pharyngeal pain or itching, no cough, no breathing difficulties, no swallowing difficulties, and can sleep comfortably. The bowel movements are adjusted accordingly. The tongue is light red, with thick white fur and smooth veins.,TCM disease and syndrome, Chronic dysphagia (phlegm-dampness syndrome).,Western medicine diagnosis, Vocal cord polyps,Therapeutic methods, The traditional Chinese medicine treatment was based on invigorating spleen and resolving phlegm, softening and resolving hard masses. The self-made prescription of traditional Chinese medicine was given orally, combined with intermediate frequency acupoint application, traditional Chinese medicine atomization and audio frequency electrotherapy.,Clinical outcomes, The patient's bilateral vocal cord polyps disappeared and hoarseness recovered. Follow-up for 4 years showed no recurrence.
