Treatment of Mediastinal Lymph Node Metastasis of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma after Radiochemotherapy with Traditional Chinese Medicine: A Case Report
Summary of case history, Patient Zhang, male, 43 years old. On December 5, 2011, the patient visited the hospital due to "3 years after radiotherapy and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and 1 year after mediastinal lymph node metastasis". In 2008, the patient was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In September 2011, PET-CT examination revealed mediastinal lymph node metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and cerebral infarction occurred during chemotherapy again. The patient was hospitalized for more than 1 month, and was discharged after stable symptoms. Symptoms and signs: The patient was clear in consciousness, general in spirit, dizziness, headache, fatigue, memory loss, dry mouth, numbness of left limb and dyskinesia. The tongue is dark red, the fur is slightly yellow and thick and dry, and the pulse is thin and smooth.,TCM diagnosis, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (Syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis blocking collaterals ).,Western medicine diagnosis, Mediastinal lymph node metastasis after radiotherapy and chemotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma; Sequelae of cerebral infarction.,Therapeutic methods, The treatment of traditional Chinese medicine is based on promoting blood circulation and removing stasis, detoxifying and resolving phlegm, dispersing and clearing collaterals, and is treated with modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction.,Clinical outcomes, The patient's mediastinal metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma disappeared, and the symptoms of cerebral infarction were significantly improved.
