A Case of Acute Urinary Retention in Children Treated by External Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Summary of case history ,Bai, female, 3 years old, visited the pediatric outpatient clinic of our hospital on September 11, 2021 due to "urine retention for 11 hours". The child is clear, the lower abdomen is full and bulging, refuses to press, cry, the lower abdomen is dull to percussion, there is no percussion pain in the kidney area, no skin edema, rash and bleeding, no yellowing of the sclera, and vulva without swelling and ulceration, swelling and ulceration were normal, the heart and lung auscultation was normal, the pharynx was not red, the tonsils were not large, the tongue was red with little coating, and the pulse was rapid.,TCM diagnosis ,retention of urine, damp-heat betting syndrome.,Western medicine diagnosis, acute urinary retention,Therapeutic methods ,after rubbing the hands, percussion on the bladder in the approximate area, pressing the abdomen with the whole palm, then using the middle finger to press Guanyuan, Zhongji, and Jimen points on both sides, and acupuncture needles at Sanyinjiao.,Clinical outcomes ,after pressing the acupuncture point, the child immediately urinated on his own, and the abdominal swelling and pain were reduced.
